The book of the month club will hold their Twilight party on Friday, Dec. 1st! If you read the book, then you are invited to the party. Just stop down and pick up an invitation!

Also, we are starting our Student Choice Book Club, which meets during 3rd lunch every Friday. The first selection to be read (chosen by club members) is Dragonspell by Cornelia Funke.
November
 A Poetry Coffeehouse will be held on Friday, November 17th. Students are encouraged to attend and either read their own poetry (please run submissions by Mrs. Carpinelli first), poetry written by others, or just listen to the poetry. Refreshments will be served. Attendence is free, but a 1.00 donation is encouraged - it will go toward the LCMR Art Dept.'s Guatamalan orphanage portrait project. Come and enjoy the poetry and support the orphans!

 H.S. Book Fair - December 12th-14th
January
Join the January Book of the Month Club! Our selection this month is Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, a story of a future society where everyone must undergo an operation when they turn 16 which makes them physically perfect or "pretty" as they call it. But what if you don't want the operation. Find out what happens to the teenagers who choose to rebel against the government who wants them "pretty!"

 Pick out an encouragement card for your favorite teacher from our "Valentine Tree." Fill it out and leave it with us and we will make sure it gets to the teacher. Use this Valentine's Day to make one of the special people in your school life know that they make a difference to you!
