Adverbs tell us manner, place, time frequency and purpose.  They help create sentences that are clearer and more concise while giving a better picture of the action that is occurring.  Adverbs modify verbs and tell us how, when or where the action took place.  Use the following activities to help you to help you understand how adverbs function in a sentence. Use the “Adverb Master List” to help you with these activities.
